Austria 1705 3 kreuzer KM-1430
This specimen was lot 4742 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €60 (about US$79 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH. Josef I. 1705-1711. 3 Kreuzer 1705, München, geprägt während der Reichsbesetzung im Spanischen Erbfolgekrieg. Geharnischtes Brustbild r. mit Lorbeerkranz, umgelegtem Mantel und der Kette des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies, am Arm Wertzahl 3 in Kartusche//Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Schwert und Zepter in den Fängen, auf der Brust zweifeldiges Wappen, unten Münzzeichen Stern, oben die geteilte Jahreszahl 17 - 05. R Kl. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön. Aus der Sammlung Eberhard Link. Exemplar der Lagerliste Münzen und Medaillen AG 270, Basel 1966, Nr. 537. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph I, 1705-11, three kreuzer of 1705, Munich mint under Austrian occupation during the War of the Spanish Succession. Obverse: armored, laureate, mantled bust to right with the Order of the Golden Fleece; reverse: crowned imperial eagle with sword and scepter in its claws, supporting a shield, date below. Scarce, scratches, very fine.)"
This type was struck by the Austrians in Munich 1705-11 while they were in occupation of Bavaria. The elector was in exile in Liege, now in Belgium. Other Austrian three kreuzer were struck in Augsburg, St. Veit, Hall and Graz.
