Goldberg sale 93, lot 2406

This specimen was lot 2406 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $423. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Mexico: Mexico State. 20 Centavos, ND NGC AU50. Amecameca. Brass. The solo finest graded coin and the only AU piece in NGC Census. NGC graded AU-50." The Amecameca coinage, issued by the Zapatistas, is the crudest of the Revolution. It ranges from brass five centavos up to fifty centavos. As might be expected from hand stamped coinage, no two are alike. The twenty and twenty-five centavos are the most available.
