Mexico 1877Mo 5 centavos rev DSL.jpg

Shown is an 1877MoM five centavos, of a type struck 1869-1897. This issue from Mexico City is among the more available dates, though it does not often appear so nice. The SCWC prices it about eight times the common date. Other mints include Hermosillo, Culiacan, Durango, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Guadalajara, Oaxaca, Alamos and Potosi. An overdate, 1877/6, is recorded for the year but is accorded no premium.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, .039 troy oz ASW.

Mintage: 80,000.

Catalog reference: KM 398.7.
