Austria 1626 thaler Dav-3337
This specimen was lot 3875 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$144 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Erzherzog Leopold V. 1619-1632 Taler 1626. Hall. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Gestopftes Loch. (Holy Roman Empire, archduke Leopold V, 1619-32, thaler of 1626, Hall mint. Very fine-extremely fine. Plugged hole.)"
This type was struck 1626-27 at Hall for the archduke Leopold, who never became emperor. It is among the more common thalers of the period.
