Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale, lot 70300

This specimen was lot 70300 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler, 1630. Hall Mint. Archduke Leopold V. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield. TYROLIS variety. Quite deeply toned, this example remains rather wholesome, with just a slight degree of wear upon the high points." This type was struck 1628, 1630, 1632 and is listed as common.
