Sincona sale 83, lot 3088

This specimen was lot 3088 in Sincona sale 83 (Zurich, May 2023), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$2,008 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Vatican - Church State, Julius II. 1503-1513. Ducato o. J. (1503-1507), Bologna. Selten. Fast vorzüglich. Kleine Prägeschwäche am Rand (Papal States, Julius II, 1503-13, undated ducat, Bologna mint. Rare, About extremely fine, Small weakly struck part at the edge)." A closely related ducat (also Fr-332 but Ber-598) shows the keys of St. Peter behind the shield rather than above it.
