Stephen Album sale 50, lot 1069

This specimen was lot 1069 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Julius II, 1503-1513, AR giulio, Rome Mint, crossed keys surmounted by papal tiara over coat-of-arms; all within quadrilobe // St. Peter, holding key and gospel, and St. Paul, holding sword and gospel, standing facing; trident below; RO in exergue, VF-XF." Julius II, patron of Michaelangelo and Bramante, introduced the self-named giulio in a reform of 1504. Berman[2] records eleven different giulii for this pope, of which this is one of the common ones. The piastra was 10½ giulii and the scudo was ten giulii.
