Jean Elsen sale 124, lot 1457

This specimen was lot 1457 in Jean Elsen sale 124 (Brussels, March 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIE, ETATS PONTIFICAUX, Jules II (1503-1513), (Giuliano della Rovere), AR giulio, Rome. Droit: Ecu à ses armes sous les clés et la tiare. Revers: Saint Pierre, tenant une clé, et saint Paul, tenant une épée, debout de face. Très Beau. (Italy, Papal States, Julius II (Giuliano della Rovere, 1503-13), silver giulio, undated, Rome mint. Obverse: Papal arms, tiara and keys above; reverse: St. Peter and St. Paul facing. Very fine.)"

The piastra was 10½ giulii and the scudo was ten giulii. Berman[2] lists eleven different giulii for the reign of Julius II, patron of Michaelangelo and Bramante. This one is noted as common.
