Sincona sale 39, lot 4084

This specimen was lot 4084 in Sincona sale 39 (Zurich, May 2017), where it sold for 70 CHF (about US$84 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Franz I. 1745-1765 Kreuzer 1759. Kremnitz K-B. FDC. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis I, 1745-65, kreuzer of 1759, Kremnitz mint. Uncirculated.)"

This tiny coin was 1/120 of a thaler. It was the last of the denomination struck in billon; later issues were copper. This type was struck 1747-60 at Hall (KM 1761.1), Vienna, Kremnitz (shown here), Graz and Nagybanya. This is a common date.

Recorded mintage: 266,000.
