Stack's Bowers November 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70356

This specimen was lot 70356 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1893-Ca MM. Chihuahua Mint. PCGS MS-62. Offering mostly soft, argent surfaces, this charming crown also employs some rainbow iridescence nearer the peripheries to further its appeal." The Chihuahua mint struck eight reales 1831-95. Many of the early dates are rare but this one is common in all grades.

Recorded mintage: 2,632,000.
