Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg 1688-HB thaler Dav-6621
This specimen was lot 666 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €550 (about US$741 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, HERZOGTUM Ernst August, 1679-1698, seit 1662 Bischof von Osnabrück. Reichstaler 1688, Clausthal. Ausbeute der Grube St. Andreas. Feine Patina, winz. Zainende, fast vorzüglich. (duchies of Brunswick-Luneburg and Brunswick Wolfenbuttel, Ernest Augustus, 1679-98, since 1662 bishop of Osnabruck, thaler of 1688, Clausthal mint, for the St. Andrew mine. Fine patina, minor clip, about extremely fine.)"
This mining thaler is noted for 1688 only. It is scarce but not rare.
