This specimen was lot 73281 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Calenberg. 12 Mariengroschen, 1688. Zellerfeld Mint. Ernst August, as Bishop of Osnabrück. PCGS MS-61. Presenting a charming rendition of a wildman, this elegantly toned minor also retains a solid degree of glistening brilliance among the fields. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This twelve mariengroschen with a wild man obverse was struck 1680-92. Confusingly, the SCWC shows a completely different coin struck in 1602.
