Mexico 1856-Mo GF 8 reales

This eight reales is one of a series struck 1825-97 at the Mexico City mint. This date is common in all grades. Assayer GF is recorded for years 1855-57. An 1856/5/4 overdate is noted as somewhat scarce. This specimen was lot 4119 in Goldberg sale 85 (Los Angeles, June 2015), where it sold for $176. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. 8 Reales, 1856-Mo GF. Brilliant mint luster. PCGS graded MS-62."
