Sincona sale 93, lot 1210

This specimen was lot 1210 in Sincona sale 93 (Zurich, October 2024), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$381 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Alexander II. 1855-1881, 2 Kopecks 1858, Ekaterinburg Mint, EM. NGC MS61 BN."

This type was struck 1850-60 at Ekaterinburg and Warsaw and is common in circulated condition. The type was slightly modified in 1859 and reduced in weight and the subsequent design (Y4a.1) was struck 1859-67. In 1867, the weight was reduced to 6.56 g.

Recorded mintage: 10,028,000.
