Stack's Bowers February 2022 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75293

This specimen was lot 75293 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 2 Kopeks, 1855-BM. Warsaw Mint. Nicholas I. NGC AU-58. Very nice and only barely circulated, this minor is sure to captivate with its Russian beauty." This type was struck 1850-60 at Ekaterinburg and Warsaw and is common in circulated condition. The type was slightly modified in 1859 and the subsequent design (Y4a.1) was struck 1859-67. In 1867, the weight was reduced to 6.56 g.

Recorded mintage: 1,347,000.
