Sincona sale 97, lot 2207

This specimen was lot 2207 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$725 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Alexander II. 1855-1881, 2 Kopecks 1856, Ekaterinburg Mint, EM. (empire of Russia, Alexander II, two kopeks of 1856, Ekaterinburg mint. NGC MS62 BN.)"

This type was struck 1850-60 at Ekaterinburg and Warsaw and is common in circulated condition. The type was slightly modified in 1859 and the subsequent design (Y4a.1) was struck 1859-67. In 1867, the weight was reduced to 6.56 g.

Recorded mintage: 9,167,200.

Specifications: 10.24 g, copper, 28.15 mm diameter.
