This specimen was part of lot 2334 in Goldberg sale 106 (Los Angeles, September 2018), which sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. Group of PCGS graded Cap and Rays 8 Reales: 1856-Do CP. DP-Do36. Fine Detail, Chop Mark; 1864-Do LT. DP-Do45. VF Detail, Chop Mark; 1868-Do CP. DP-Do50. VF Detail, Chop Mark; 1870-Do CP. DP-Do52. VF Detail, Chop Mark. A few slightly better dates. Lot of 4 coins." This date is scarce but the scratch on the obverse would greatly reduce the price realized, explaining why it was consigned to a group lot.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
Catalog reference: KM-377.4; DP-Do36.
