This specimen was lot 34274 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $470. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Venice. Zecchino, 1789. NGC MS-64. Ludovico Manin (1789-97)." This type is among the more common types issued in Venice during the eighteenth century. This issue of Ludovico Marin (1789-97) ended the series as the Republic was occupied by Napoleon and traded by him to Austria in exchange for Milan. This doge also minted one quarter (Fr-1447), one half (Fr-1446), two (Fr-1444), five, six, eight (Fr-1441), nine, ten, twelve, twenty, thirty (Fr-1438a), fifty and 105 zecchini in gold.
