Sincona sale 91, lot 3630

This specimen was lot 3630 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 475 CHF (about US$628 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdukat 1645, Zürich. Löwe nach links mit Palmzweig und Zürcher Wappenschild. Rv. Jahreszahl mit Inschrift in einem Lorbeerkranz. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, half ducat of 1645, Zürich mint. Obverse: lion to left with palm branch and city arms; reverse: date with inscription in laurel wreath. Very fine-extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1641, 1645, 1649-51 and 1670-71.

Specification: 1.75 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 1.70 g.
