Sincona sale 98, lot 4627

This specimen was lot 4627 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 4,000 CHF (about US$5,802 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1645, Zürich. Kleines Zürcher Wappen zwischen zwei aufrechten Löwen. Unten die geteilte Jahreszahl. Rv. Gekrönter, nimbierter Doppeladler. Äusserst selten. Sehr schön. Henkelspur und leicht gereinigt. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, thaler of 1645, Zürich mint. Obverse: small city arms supported by two lions, date in exergue; reverse: crowned and nimbate double headed eagle. Extremely rare, Very Fine, Mount mark and slightly cleaned.)"
