Sincona sale 95, lot 4633

This specimen was lot 4633 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$901 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdukat 1641, Zürich. Selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Feine Goldpatina. Exemplar der Auktion SINCONA 6, Zürich, Oktober 2011, Los 5377. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, half ducat of 1641, Zürich mint. Rare, Very Fine-Extremely Fine, Nice gold toning.)"

This type was struck 1641, 1645, 1649-51, 1670-71. While later half ducats such as Fr-474 are common, this one is scarce.

Specification: 1.75 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 1.70 g.
