The first specimen was lot 3430 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$2,176 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdukat 1639, Zürich. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. Flaue Stellen. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, half ducat of 1639, Zürich mint. Very rare, Good Very Fine, Some weakly struck areas.)"

The second specimen was lot 4625 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$4,352 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdukat 1639, Zürich. Stehender Krieger in römischer Tracht. Rv. .S.P.Q. mit Inschrift und Jahreszahl in einem Lorbeerkranz. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. Kleine Kratzer. Exemplar der Slg. Zuberbühler, Auktion SINCONA 16, Zürich, Oktober 2013, Los 6352. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, half ducat of 1639, Zürich mint. Obverse: standing warrior in Roman dress; reverse: city name and date in laurel wreath. Very rare, Good Very Fine, Small scratches.)"

This type was struck 1639 only and was superseded in 1641 by the familiar half ducat with the lion brandishing a sword (Fr-465).

Specifications: 2.13 g, billon, 24 mm diameter, the first specimen 1.72 g, the second specimen 1.67 g.
