This specimen was lot 31567 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. Canton gold 1/2 Ducat 1654 MS63 NGC. Attractive for the type with the usual wavy flan present and richly colored saffron surfaces that emit a glowing amount of luster. A bold Mint State example of this earlier type, sure to receive a premium bid consideration. From the Redwood Collection, Part II." This type was issued 1654 and 1662 only and is somewhat scarcer than the later Fr-465 or Fr-467.
