Sincona sale 35, lot 5467

This specimen was lot 5467 in Sincona sale 35 (Zürich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Zurich | Stadt, Taler 1651. Sog. "Vögelitaler". Selten. Sehr schön. Prägeschwäche, minimaler Randschlag. (city of Zürich, thaler of 1651, so called the "birds thaler". Rare, Very fine, Weakly struck, minor edge knock.)"

This type was struck 1651 only and is rare, even for a Swiss thaler of the seventeenth century.
