Sincona sale 95, lot 4634

This specimen was lot 4634 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 2,800 CHF (about US$3,881 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Dukat 1643, Zürich. Selten. Vorzüglich-FDC. Minimal gereinigt, sonst prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, ducat of 1643, Zürich mint. Rare, About Uncirculated, Minor cleaning, otherwise magnificent condition.)"

This type was struck 1641 and 1643. While later ducats such as Fr-459 and Fr-473 are common, this one is scarce.

Specification: 3.50 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.47 g.
