Heritage sale 3064, lot 31732
Zurich H3064-31732r.jpg

This specimen was lot 31732 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. Canton 1/2 Taler 1715 MS65 PCGS. The finest of only three certified by either NGC or PCGS. Very rarely offered at auction let alone in this unmatched quality, this beautiful specimen is firmly prooflike, its fields reflective and flashy and its devices crisp and matte. The obverse is dominated by a glorious red-gold patina, whilst the reverse reveals hints of steel-blue. Exceptionally well produced and in an enviable level of certification." This half thaler is listed for 1713-17 and is substantially scarcer than the city view type (KM 146) of 1720-68.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM 134.
