This specimen is a slightly scarce date of a series struck 1869-90 at the San Luis Potosi mint, which closed in 1893. An overdate, 1885/4, is listed for the year. This twenty-five centavos piece replaced the two reales struck since colonial times. It, in turn, was replaced by a smaller twenty centavos piece in 1898.

Specification: 6.77 g, .903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 43,000.

Catalog reference: KM 406.8.
