Sincona sale 94, lot 3260

This specimen was lot 3260 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$2,218 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Doppeldukat 1756/1, Zürich. Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1751 geändert. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Fassungsspuren. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, Very rare, Very Fine, Traces of jewelry.)"

This scarce type was struck 1718-67 along with quarter (Fr-488a), half (Fr-487a) and single ducats.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.98 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 6.86 g.
