This specimen was lot 10116 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €1,080 (about US$1,126). The catalog description[1] noted, "[[Denmark|DENMARK]]. 8 Kroneskilling, 1619. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC EF Details--Damaged. Rare type with date on both obverse and reverse. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: L. Chr. Petersen Collection (Copenhagen-1914/1918) Lot # 546." This type was struck 1619 only and was worth 1/12 speciedaler. It seems to have been part of an unsuccessful attempt to replace the debased minor coinage with coin of good silver. Two, four and eight kroneskilling exist. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
