This specimen was lot 25545 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $2,702.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth silver 5 Kopecks 1756-СПБ, Eagle supporting crowned monogram / Eagle supporting value with date above and mintmark below, MS65 NGC. A remarkable survivor with handsome argent-gray toning and shimmering underlying luster. A true prize for the Russian specialist and the only example certified in MS65 by NGC, with none finer." This type was struck 1756-61 at the St. Petersburg mint for Elizabeth I. In 1759, the production of copper five kopeks commenced and they were produced in enormous quantities. The next silver issue was in 1797.
Recorded mintage: 905,000 (including KM C15.1).
