Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 4345

This specimen was lot 4345 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 10 Kopek (Grivennik), 1857-CNBOB. NGC MS-62. Attractive rosy purple toned and lustrous surfaces. Nicely struck features." This type was struck 1832-58 in large numbers and this is a common date. In 1859, the silver was reduced to 0.750 fine and reduced again to 0.500 fine in 1867.

Recorded mintage: 3,110,000.

Specification: 2.07 g, 0.868 fine silver.
