This proof was struck for the newly formed republic of Yemen in 1969 as a one year only issue. The subject is the Qadhi Mohammed Mahmud Azzubairi Memorial. It was lot 22831 in Heritage sale 3005 (Long Beach, CA, May 2009) for $2,300. The catalog description[1] reads:

"Arab Republic gold 2 Riyals 1969, choice cameo Proof, stunningly beautiful coin featuring a roaring lion, gold striking of the silver 2 Riyals. Rare with a mintage of 100. From the Village Coin Estate Collection."
