This specimen was lot 71248 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1893-Do ND. Durango Mint. NGC MS-63. A splendid 8 Reales from the Durango mint. Graphite gray toning with appreciable underlying luster. An illustrious example of the type." The Durango mint struck eight reales 1812-95 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; this late date is common in all grades.

Recorded mintage: 1,617,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
