This specimen was lot 75299 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 2 Kopeks, 1859-EM. Ekaterinburg Mint. Alexander II. NGC MS-62 Brown. Startlingly dapper, this entrancing piece is rich with uncirculated details and a lovely color." This type was struck 1850-59 at Ekaterinburg and Warsaw and is common in circulated condition. The type was slightly modified in 1859 and the subsequent design (Y4a.1) was also struck in that year.
