Sincona sale 78, lot 305

This specimen was lot 305 in Sincona sale 78 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$719 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Catherine II. 1762-1796, 10 Kopecks 1766, Suzun Mint. Bitkin 1012 (R1). 6 roubles according to Petrov. 3 roubles according to Ilyin. Very fine. Scratch and some edge bumps." This type was struck at Suzun 1766-81 for circulation in Siberia, heance the martens on the reverse. The first two dates come without mintmark and are scarce.
