This specimen was lot 21403 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $9,693.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 2 Ruble, 1766-CNB. Catherine II (the Great) (1762-96). PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder. VERY RARE one year type. Catherine was the longest ruling female Monarch in Russian history and is often regarded as the most renown[ed]. Under her reign Russia became recognized as one of the great powers of Europe as she revitalized the country. Well struck and attractively toned with strong luster." This one year type is expensive but less than the five rubles.
