This specimen was lot 1470 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Republic. 8 Reales, 1895 Cn AM. Culiacan. Eagle on cactus. Rv. Cap in rays, Resplandor. A Gem example of one of the last dates of this branch mint. Bright silver lustre. MS-65 (NGC)." The Culiacan mint struck eight reales 1846-97 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; this date is common in all grades.

Recorded mintage: 1,834,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
