Steve Album sale 55, lot 3149

This specimen was lot 3149 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "UKRAINE: Republic, AR 10 hryven, 2005, Hetman Capital Cities Series – Baturyn, struck at the Ukrainian mint, Kyiv, with COA of issue, Proof." This denomination was used for numerous commemoratives in 2005, including KM 358, KM 367, KM 370, KM 371, KM 372, KM 373, KM 381 (shown here) and KM 382, all struck to the same module. This NCLT reverted to sterling silver. The hryvnia was introduced in 1996 to supersede the karbovanets (1 hryvnia = 100,000 karbovantsiv). Its sign is "₴". At present (June 2026), US$1 = 45.07 hryven. Wikipedia comments, "Baturyn (Ukrainian: Батурин) is a historic city in ...northern Ukraine...on the banks of the Seym River. It hosts the administration of Baturyn urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: 2,406 (2022 estimate)."
