Steve Album sale 55, lot 999

This specimen was lot 999 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "UKRAINE: Republic, AV 2 hryvni, 2006, Signs of the Zodiac Series - Gemini, struck at the Ukrainian mint, Kyiv, Proof. A styled image of Gemini with stars around it is depicted, and its Sign of Zodiac above it." The hryvnia was introduced in 1996 to supersede the Karbovanets (1 hryvnia = 100,000 karbovanetsiv). Its sign is "₴". At present (June 2026), US$1 = 45.07 hryven. NCLT's featuring Aries, Taurus and Gemini were issued in 2006 and Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Scorpio and Sagittarius in 2007.

Recorded mintage: 10,000 proofs.

Specifications: 1.24 g, 0.999 fine gold, 13.92 mm diameter, plain edge.
