Künker sale 264, lot 3274

This specimen was lot 3274 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,100 (about US$1,421 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ZWOLLE Stadt. 2 Dukaten o. J. (1590-1597). Spanischer Typ. GOLD. R Min. gewellt, sehr schön. (city of Zwolle, undated double ducat, Spanish type. Slightly bent, very fine.)"

This type is an imitation of the double excelente (Fr-129) issued by Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain several generations before. It is accompanied by a single ducat (Fr-210).

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold; this specimen 6,86 g.
