Sincona sale 98, lot 4651

This specimen was lot 4651 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$1,161 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, 20 Schilling (Halbgulden) 1716, Zürich. Selten. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, twenty schilling or half gulden of 1716, Zürich mint. Rare, About Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1707, 1711-16. Around this time, the thaler was raised from 72 schilling to 80 schilling, making this a quarter thaler.
