Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 43074
SB0123-43074r.jpg

This specimen was lot 43074 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. West Friesland. 1/4 Gulden, 1759. NGC MS-62." This type, worth five stuivers, was struck with a rooster mintmark 1758-59 only. This type is more common than a two year type would suggest, so perhaps it was struck with a frozen date. The six stuivers or scheepjesschelling was made in more provinces for more years.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.65 g, .920 fine silver, 0.078 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-135.
