This specimen was lot 33842 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $1,560. The lot description[1] noted, "Netherlands: West Friesland. Provincial silver Bank 6 Stuivers (Lion Shilling) 1674 AU58 NGC, Enkhuisen mint. By Dirk Bosch. An exciting and rare early Provincial minor, this Leeuwenschelling type was issued for Bank money over just two years. The reverse depicts an unusual 10-petal flower, whereas these are typically encountered with a 12-petal flower. Admitting gentle uniform wear and eye-catching, pilot blue patina silhouetting the raised motifs, the first we have offered and we anticipate heightened attention from specialists of Netherlands coinage. From the Coenen Collection." This type was struck 1674 and 1676. Another leeuwenschelling exists (KM 77) with the value stated as "VI· STUIVERS BANKGELD"; it is not so rare. It was superseded by the scheepjesschelling in 1678.
