Sincona sale 26, lot 3527

This specimen was lot 3527 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,100 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Reichstaler 1592. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. NGC MS62. (Netherlands, province of Westfriesland, thaler of 1592, very rare in this quality, extremely fine to uncirculated, in NGC MS-62 holder.)"

This type has the obverse motto, "VIGILATE DEO CONFIDENTES". It was struck again in 1595. A later type, with the legend "DEVS FORTITUDO ET SPES NOSTRA", is listed for 1593-99 (Dav-8865) and 1607-93 (Dav-4842) with various mintmarks.
