Sincona auction 98, lot 4479

This specimen was lot 4479 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 375 CHF (about US$544 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ St. Gallen, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdicken 1620, St. Gallen. Fast vorzüglich. Leicht justiert. Exemplar der Auktion SINCONA 9, Zürich, Oktober 2012, Los 5468. (Switzerland, St. Gall, half dicken of 1620, St. Gall mint. About Extremely Fine, Minor adjustment marks.)"

The SCWC mentions a half dicken (KM 53), worth twelve kreuzer, struck 1618-19. The 1618 is scarce and the 1619 is rare. The photo in the SCWC shows the date in the obverse legend by the bear's head. This piece is catalogued therein as a three batzen, struck 1619-24. A klippe version (KM 58) exists for 1620-22.
