This specimen was lot 34403 in Heritage sale 3098 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $4,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Spain: Isabel II gold 100 Reales 1850-RD MS63 NGC, Seville mint. Velveteen, almost Prooflike surfaces, boasting cartwheel luster all over. A very rare date, with a pronounced die crack over the front of the bust that is not to be confused with a scratch." This denomination, struck in various forms 1850-64, replaced the eighty reales de vellon of 1811-48, which in turn superseded the two escudos of the old regime, last struck 1833. This date is rare.
