Aureo y Calicó sale 448, lot 365

This specimen was lot 365 in Aureo y Calicó sale 448 (Barcelona, March 2025), where it sold for 220 € (about US$287 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1814. Fernando VII. Madrid. GJ. 1/2 real. First year of laureate bust. Very beautiful. Very rare in this condition. EBC+ [choice extremely fine]. Ex Colección of 1/2 real, Áureo 12/17/2002, no. 1687. Ex Aureo & Calico Selection 2017, no. 367." This type was struck at Madrid 1813-14 and Cadiz (a temporary mint) 1812-14.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.812 fine silver, 35 mm diameter, this specimen 1.50 g.
