Spain 1799-M MF 2 escudos
This specimen was lot 1188 in Sincona sale 54 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$327 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SPAIN | Königreich, Carlos IV. 1788-1808. 2 Escudos 1799, MF-Madrid. Fast vorzüglich. Kleine Kratzer. (kingdom of Spain, Charles IV, 1788-1808, two escudos of 1799, Madrid mint. About extremely fine, Small scratches.)"
This type was struck in Madrid and Seville 1788-1808 for Charles IV. This date is common. Unlike the Latin American mints, which concentrated on producing eight escudos, the Spanish mints turned most of their gold into two escudos.
