This specimen was lot 24895 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 8 Reales, 1626-D. Seville Mint. Philip IV (1621-65). NGC AU-55. Struck on a compact flan. Full bold 4 digit date, full shield and cross. Toned." This cob type was struck at Seville 1621-62 along with cobs from Toledo, Segovia, Burgos (1651 only), Cuenca (1651 only) and Madrid. Segovia also produced milled eight reales using roller dies during this reign.
