Aureo y Calicó sale 448, lot 190

This specimen was lot 190 in Aureo y Calicó sale 448 (Barcelona, March 2025), where it sold for 150,000 € (about US$195,945 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "* 1614/1. Felipe III. Segovia. AR. 8 escudos. Obv.: PHILIPPVS·III·D·G. Rev.: HISPANIARVM·REX·1614·. Minimal hairlines between la V and la S of PHILIPPVS. Light small scrape. Nice. Cabinet patina. Extremely rare, we have only had 2 examples, one of them from the Caballero de las Yndias Collection. EBC [extremely fine]." The Segovia mint also struck eight escudos in 1610-11 and 1615, all very rare.
